About the position:
Snowy Hydro is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Analyst Team Lead to join our Technology team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and mentor a team of Business Analysts, overseeing the entire business analysis lifecycle for complex technology projects. Your expertise will be crucial in translating strategic business objectives into clear, actionable requirements and ensuring the successful delivery of solutions that meet our business needs in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management and Development: Coach, mentor, and lead the BA team, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and performance measures. Provide expertise in risk and information management, conduct performance reviews, and support professional growth.
- Strategic Business Analysis: Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams, defining and documenting detailed functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, use cases, process flows, and data models. Identify and call out process improvements across the portfolio.
- Project & Portfolio Oversight: Oversee business analysis efforts across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and technology roadmaps. Collaborate with Product Owners, Project Managers, Solution Architects, and Development teams for successful project delivery. Work with BAs to provide accurate allocation estimates.
- Process Improvement & Standards: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the business analysis function and broader technology delivery lifecycle. Establish and maintain high standards for documentation, requirements quality, and analytical rigor within the BA team.
- Problem Solving & Risk Management: Proactively identify and resolve complex business and technical issues, escalating when necessary.
- Work, Health and Safety: Demonstrate and drive the highest level of focus on safety, leading by example and promoting engagement in safety modules and training. Ensure procedural compliance across your team and external resources.
About the location:
While our preferred location for this role is Sydney, we are open to considering strong applicants based in Melbourne or Cooma. The successful candidate must be able to collaborate effectively with our Sydney-based team, which may include occasional travel or flexible working arrangements to ensure seamless communication and alignment across all Snowy office sites.
About you:
- Proficiency with requirements management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Experience in resource management/allocation.
- Proven ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
- IIBA certification or relevant BA qualifications (e.g., CBAP, ECBA).
- Ability to work under pressure, meet critical deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and demonstrate resilience in a constantly changing environment.
- Familiarity with metering data, MSATS, MDPs (highly regarded).
- Experience in transformation or system integration projects (highly regarded).
- Knowledge of energy market operations such as DER, FCAS, NEM processes (highly regarded).
