About the position:
The Senior Lawyer - Energy and Trading primarily supports the Commercial and Trading team, but also the Regulatory team. The role involves working on commercial transactions in the energy space, including new deals, power purchase agreements from renewables, and gas deals. The role supports Snowy’s trading transactions predominantly in the derivatives contract market and provides legal support to regulatory intervention, as well as providing legal advice on compliance and related enquiries.
Key Responsibilities:

Preparing, negotiating and advising on Snowy Hydro’s derivative and over-the-counter ISDA contracts, renewable energy offtake and power purchase agreements

Building and maintaining key relationships with stakeholders, predominantly in the Commercial and Trading teams

Running transactions, participation in negotiations, and advising on risk and structures

Management of legal disputes and regulatory investigations, including with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Australian Energy Regulator

Delivering legal awareness training to relevant business units
About the location:
This position is based in Sydney.
About you:

A legal professional with experience in energy, either from a law firm or working in-house in a similar sector

Over six years’ post qualification experience

A demonstrated background in negotiating and drafting contracts across a range of areas, including wholesale agreements, renewable and energy offtake and ISDA contracts

A strong knowledge of relevant legislation

The drive and ability to work independently
