About the position:
Snowy Hydro is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Physical Security Systems Specialist to lead the strategic development, innovation, and lifecycle management of our critical physical security infrastructure. This pivotal role ensures the robust protection of our generation and corporate facilities, mitigating physical threats, upholding regulatory compliance, and supporting our commitment to safe, secure, and reliable energy delivery.
You will be instrumental in driving cross-functional collaboration and integrating cutting-edge technologies to maintain the integrity and resilience of our physical security assets within a complex utility environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Security Strategy: Develop and implement long-term plans for our physical security systems to protect critical infrastructure.
- Drive Innovation: Lead evaluation and integrate advanced security technologies.
- Asset & Maintenance Management: Lead the performance, maintenance, and upgrade cycles of physical security infrastructure across generation and corporate assets.
- Stakeholder Collaborate: Work closely with internal teams and external entities ensure cohesive and compliant physical security programs.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure systems and practices align with energy sector regulations and standards.
- Manage Risk: Conduct security assessments and report on system status to identify and address potential threats.
- Oversee Projects: Lead physical security projects from start to finish, including design, procurement, and implementation.
About the location:
The preferred location for this role is Cooma; however, we will also consider candidates based at either Melbourne or Sydney office locations. Flexible hybrid working arrangements are available. Our teams typically work 2–3 days in the office each week, with the remaining days from home. You’ll enjoy the best of both worlds—in-person collaboration and remote flexibility—supported by a team that values both connection and autonomy.
About you:
- Over 10 years of experience in physical security, especially in energy/utilities, protecting critical assets, and working at remote sites.
- More than 10 years of hands-on expert knowledge in physical security technologies (e.g., perimeter security, cameras, alarms, access control, electronic keys).
- Ability to create long-term security strategies and adapt to new threats and technologies.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills to work with all levels of staff and external partners.
- A proven track record of leading change and implementing new security technologies safely and effectively.
- Experience managing complex, multi-site security projects in regulated environments.
- Familiarity with relevant security standards for the energy sector (e.g., SOCI, PSPF, ISO 27001/31000).
- Security certifications like ASIS PSP or CPP are highly valued.
- Willingness to travel (as required) to Snowy Hydro Asset locations.
