Operations & SLA Management: Oversee platform availability, incident response, disaster recovery checks, security patches, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Transition platform operations from reactive fixes to proactive monitoring, alerting, and self-healing processes.
-
Spoke Enablement & Access Management: Configure and govern secure, multi-tenant private spaces to ensure data segregation while managing role-based access control (RBAC) to dashboards and platforms.
-
Cost Optimisation: Act as the commercial custodian for data infrastructure, implementing FinOps frameworks to monitor, forecast, and optimise cloud compute and storage spend, including tracking overheads from emerging AI workloads.
-
Team Leadership & Vendor Management: Oversee and manage current operational contractors, eventually building and leading a small, high-performing team while maintaining key vendor relationships.
About the location:
This position can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.
About you:
-
Professional Engineering Background: Proven experience as a data engineer with a strong track record of managing cloud-based platform operations and maintenance (Cloud experience is mandatory).
-
Technical Ecosystem Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with modern cloud data warehouses/lakehouses (e.g., Snowflake), ingestion/orchestration tools (e.g., Matillion), and enterprise BI tools (e.g., Power BI).
-
Strategic Communication: Excellent communication skills with the business acumen to translate complex cloud operations and technical needs into clear financial and strategic narratives for business leaders.
-
Pipeline & DevOps Familiarity: Strong alignment with CI/CD patterns, infrastructure-as-code, and languages like SQL, Python, or Apache Spark.
