About the position:
We are seeking a specialist Enterprise Architect – Trading & Commercial to join our team in Sydney, reporting directly to the Head of Enterprise Architecture, this newly defined role is critical to owning our target architecture for trading, wholesale settlements, and commercial operations, driving the enterprise design required to modernise our trading technology ecosystem.
You will be responsible for defining and delivering target architectures across high-value, fast-moving domain capabilities, including Energy Markets, Portfolio and Resource Management, Portfolio Risk Management, Energy and Storage Procurement as well as Pricing and Product Development.
Key Responsibilities:

Target Architecture & Domain Ownership: Own and maintain the target enterprise architecture across all Trading & Commercial capabilities while ensuring that all downstream capabilities are supported, Financial Settlements and Revenue teams.. Lead modern architectural design to support, evolve and replace legacy systems with flexible, future-capable trading platforms to deliver the commercial capabilities.

Strategic Alignment & Roadmap Execution: Partner closely with commercial leads, risk teams, and trading desks to translate evolving market opportunities—such as energy dispatch, storage arbitrage, and commodity derivative structures—into agile architecture roadmaps.

Technical Guidance & Integration: Drive integration strategies and high-speed enterprise designs across complex, time-sensitive trading systems; oversee pilots and proof-of-concept projects to evaluate emerging technologies.

Governance, Security & Risk Mitigation: Ensure the architecture complies with industry regulations, financial market standards, enterprise security frameworks, and risk management guidelines.

About you:

Trading & Commercial Domain Expertise: Specialised experience in high-value, time-sensitive trading environments. Direct experience in energy trading/markets is preferred, but candidates with strong backgrounds in adjacent commodities, financial derivatives, or capital markets are strongly encouraged to apply.

Adaptability & Market Agility: High capacity to adapt to rapid market changes and business evolution, specifically regarding multi-asset energy dispatch, storage, generation, and complex contract structures.

Technical Literacy & Architecture Frameworks: Strong enterprise architecture background (minimum 10 years experience) with the ability to "speak the language of traders" while establishing robust enterprise patterns, integration flows, and modern cloud topologies.

Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement: Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of building consensus between commercial trading desks, technology teams, and external vendor partners.
