A full-time position exists for a Business Analyst to join the Technology stream.
About the position:
As a Business Analyst, Technology, you will act as a critical liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, responsible for gathering, analysing, and translating complex business needs into actionable functional and non-functional requirements within an agile environment. You will facilitate workshops to elicit requirements, support project scope definition, and oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure solutions align with business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical & process mapping skills, proficiency in requirements management tools like JIRA and Confluence, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure. While experience in system integration projects and knowledge of energy market operations is highly regarded, we are specifically looking for a collaborative professional with a proven ability to foster true partnerships and drive process improvements across the technology delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with business stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and validate detailed functional and non-functional requirements through workshops, meetings, and interviews.
- Develop and maintain current and future state process models to support solution design and business understanding.
- Use process modelling to drive clarity, alignment, and decision-making, not just documentation.
- Assisting with the definition of project scope and objectives, while also supporting test cases and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Identifying opportunities to enhance the technology delivery lifecycle and maintaining high standards for documentation and analytical rigor within the team.
- Proactively identifying complex technical and business issues, assessing risks related to project scope, and proposing effective mitigation strategies.
- Acting as a critical link between business users and technology teams, ensuring requirements are effectively communicated to developers and quality assurance.
- Staying current with industry best practices in agile methodologies and ensuring all work aligns with company values and safety commitments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of BA practices, templates, and ways of working.
About the location:
The location for this role is Melbourne, supporting a strong, collaborative team environment allowing you to build robust relationships with stakeholders and acting as a critical link between business users and technical teams.
The roster is Monday to Friday, with a minimum requirement of 3 days per week in the office (Hybrid Role).
About you:
- You have a solid foundation in Business Analysis, with 3-5 years experience working on technology or digital delivery initiatives, with ability to mentor team members.
- You have strong process modelling skills, with experience mapping end-to-end business processes & also use process modelling as a tool for analysis and improvement, not just documentation.
- You can identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities through process analysis.
- You are comfortable working across both business and technical domains, with an interest in how systems and processes operate.
- You have exposure to system integrations, data flows, or multi-system environments.
- You can translate complex concepts into clear, structured requirements.
- You have experience using tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- You are a strong collaborator who works effectively as part of a team and contributes positively to team outcomes.
- You build strong relationships with stakeholders and communicate clearly and confidently.
- You are comfortable asking questions and challenging assumptions in a constructive way.
- You take ownership of your work, follow through on commitments, and can manage multiple priorities.
- You are adaptable and able to navigate ambiguity in a changing environment.
- You demonstrate a growth mindset and are open to feedback and continuous improvement.
- Experience working on complex or multi-system projects (desirable).
- Experience in energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors (desirable).
- Exposure to Agile or hybrid delivery environments (desirable).
- Experience working with vendors or third-party solution providers (desirable).
- Formal Business Analysis qualifications or certifications (e.g., IIBA) (desirable).
