As a Temporary Works Safety Advisor, you will provide expert advice and hands-on support to the site team, ensuring all activities align with BS 5975:2019 standards and the Principal Contractor’s Temporary Works procedures. You’ll be key in promoting a strong safety culture, driving continuous improvement, and supporting best practices in temporary works management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advising the site team on all aspects of temporary works safety, ensuring compliance with BS 5975:2019 and project-specific procedures.
- Enusuring contractors have robust Temporary Works mangement systems in place and monitor their on-site implementation.
- Supporting and mentoring Temporary Works Coordinatros (TWC) and Supervisors (TWS) through assurance activites, highlighting best practice and addressing non-conformances.
- Conducting regular assurance checks against th Temporary Works Register, ensuring it is accurately maintained and reviewed.
- Collaborating with the Principal Contractor to identify temporary works requirements early in project planning, contributing to design reviews and risk assessments.
- Promoting a culture of safe temporary works practices and encouraging continuous improvement initiatives.
- Montioring on-site activities to ensure temporary works are installed, inspected, and dismantled in ine with approved designs and method statements.
- Verifying design approvals, independent checks, and formal sign-offs are completed prior to temporary works erection or use.
- Conducting inspections, audits, and documentation reviews to uphold temporary works safety standards.
- Delivering training sessions and briefings on temporary works procedures.
- Supporting investigations into incidents or near-misses involving temporary works, assisting with root cause analysis and lessons learned.
- Ensuring compliance with Snowy 2.0's corporate governance procedures.
You'll Bring To The Team
A strong background in Engineering or Safety within civil construction, utilities, or related industries, with expert knowledge of Temporary Works Management and a Safety Management System Auditing qualification. You’ll have highly developed influencing and negotiation skills, a solid understanding of BS 5975:2019, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach. Your ability to adapt to change and support others through transitions will be key, along with your strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, coupled with experience in planning and delivering site safety audit programs, will ensure you can effectively engage and contribute to a high-performance team environment.
