About Snowy:

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the iconic Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generating plants, and contracted wind and solar energy in the National Electricity Market. We also provide electricity and gas to over 1.5 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come

About the position:

We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer  to join our Owners Team on-site at Lobs Hole for the iconic Snowy 2.0 project. Reporting to the Project Manager - Lobs Hole, you will be our eyes, ears, and engineering expertise on the ground. You’ll play a critical role in overseeing civil construction, ensuring that what gets built matches our high standards, safety requirements, and contractual agreements. This role will also take ownership of the groundwork for the project's transition into its FRP phase.

If you love being in the thick of the action, solving complex problems in the field, and working alongside a dedicated team to deliver legacy infrastructure, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading by example on the ground: Championing the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental care on site.

  • Contractor Oversight & FRP Focus: Acting as the bridge between our team and the contractors. You'll oversee critical construction activities—with a heavy focus on complex FRP (Formwork, Reinforcement, and Pour) works—ensuring everything meets the IFC design drawings and project specifications.

  • Proactive Problem Solving: Spotting potential roadblocks—whether short, medium, or long-term—before they become issues, and collaborating to find smart, timely solutions.

  • Keeping things moving: Providing guidance to contractors, coordinating with safety and environmental officers, and ensuring productivity stays high on critical-path concrete and civil works without ever compromising on quality or safety.

  • Reporting & Communication: Keeping project managers in the loop with daily and weekly progress updates, and calling out any discrepancies or delays early.

About the location:

This role will require you to be 100% on-site, working off a 14/7 FIFO roster. Standard FIFO camp-style arrangements are included.

About you:

  • Relevant Qualifications: A degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (and eligibility for Corporate Membership with Engineers Australia).

  • Heavy Civil Experience: Demonstrated hands-on experience working on large-scale, complex civil or infrastructure projects, with proven expertise managing major FRP works.

  • Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial awareness with the ability to supervise, manage, and negotiate with external contractors and consultants effectively.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and influencing skills—you know exactly how to get people on board and build collaborative, productive relationships.

  • Adaptability & Drive: The ability to think on your feet, pivot to changing site demands, and work both autonomously and as part of a wider project team.

  • Safety & Quality Focus: A rock-solid grasp of Quality, OH&S, and Environmental standards, with a commitment to seeing them upheld in the field.

About our workforce:

Diversity and inclusion is important to us: Snowy Hydro has a culture of decency and inclusion, with a commitment to the health and wellbeing of our people and a supportive environment to ensure that everyone - regardless of background - feels included and can succeed.
