The Role

As an integral part of the Snowy Hydro 2.0 Owners Team, the Environmental Assurance Officer will design and deploy the necessary framework to guarantee Delivery Partners meet every environmental management obligation, including those specified in the Planning Approval, deeds, and all statutory requirements.

This position is based on the Snowy Hydro 2.0 Project, working a 14/7 Roster - offering an initial 2-year contract with the possibility of extension based on project demands. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and Close Obligations: Complete all required environmental conditions and deadlines from approvals.

  • Conduct Audits: Inspect the project to ensure compliance with external approval rules.

  • Assure Compliance: Verify contractors are following all environmental rules and that all required obligations are met (including training).

  • Coordinate Reporting: Set up a reporting system with the environment team to review data before submitting it externally.

  • Draft Responses: Review and help write timely replies to correspondence from the Contractor.

  • Review Contractor Plans: Check, review, and suggest changes to contractor environmental plans to ensure they meet approval terms.

  • Manage Incidents: Oversee and manage how environmental incidents are reported and notified by site teams and contractors.
  • Influence Decisions: Represent the "Owners Team" view on environmental matters to secure good, long-term outcomes for the company and stakeholders.

What You'll Bring

A Bachelor's degree in an environmental or related field with demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally in civil construction or utilities. This includes proven expertise in planning and conducting site environmental audits. You are proactive, goal-oriented, and detail-focused, able to manage change effectively and support colleagues. Crucially, you are skilled at identifying issues, making timely decisions, developing innovative solutions, and seeking assistance when needed.
