Scheduler - Thermal

Business Unit:  Operations
Date:  18 Jun 2026
Requisition ID:  987

About Snowy:

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1.5 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

full-time position exists for a Scheduler - Thermal (Gas & Diesel regions) to join the Planning and Performance team in the Operations stream.

About the position:

As a Scheduler - Thermal, you will build, maintain, and actively manage a single, integrated schedule across the Gas & Diesel regions within Snowy’s Generation portfolio. Acting as the central coordination point, integrating inputs from Planning & Performance, Operations & Maintenance, Project Delivery, GenOps and Access, you will ensure that emergent work is optimally sequenced in line with operational priorities. Ultimately, your work will contribute to a single source of truth for all scheduled work, enabling informed, portfolio-level decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a detailed, single coordinated schedule across maintenance, projects, overhauls, and break-in work, ensuring all entering work is fully defined and ready for execution.
  • Determine the optimal timing and sequencing of work based on asset availability, outage windows, and resource constraints, balancing competing demands to optimise portfolio outcomes.
  • Integrate key inputs from O&M, Project Delivery, GenOps, and Access, identifying and managing cross-functional dependencies across assets and teams.
  • Proactively adjust the schedule in response to emergent work, delays, or changing operational conditions, maintaining strict alignment with GenOps real-time requirements.
  • Monitor schedule performance (adherence, stability, conflicts) and identify trends to improve planning and scheduling practices across the portfolio.

About the location:

This permanent role offers exceptional geographic flexibility, with the choice of being based at any of our key locations: South Australia, Laverton, Valley Power, Hunter, or Colongra.

As this position is critical to delivering outcomes across all Gas & Diesel regions, regular travel between these sites will be required. This position operates on a standard Monday to Friday roster with flexible working arrangements, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office or on-site, with the opportunity to work two days from home — the final details will be determined with the successful candidate.

About you:

  • You hold a relevant trade, technical qualification, or tertiary qualification (Engineering, Business, or similar).
  • You possess strong experience in planning, scheduling, maintenance, operations, or project delivery within an asset-intensive environment.
  • You have a solid understanding of scheduling principles (dependencies, sequencing, resource constraints) and familiarity with systems like Primavera P6, MS Project, POL, Ellipse, or OMS.
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and coordinate the resolution of schedule clashes, overlaps, and inefficiencies.
  • You have strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret work plans, translating them into accurate, executable schedules.
  • You are an effective communicator who can coordinate across multiple stakeholders and respond adaptively to changing conditions.
  • You are committed to a proactive safety culture and treat all workplace relationships as true partnerships to meet shared objectives.
  • You have an understanding of operational environments and constraints (desirable).
