About the position:

We are looking for a Trainee Maintenance Technician - Plant Access to join our Maintenance team based in the Murray Region. Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, this critical role will see you applying your strong plant knowledge to safely deliver the required availability and reliability of our plant. You will respond to plant alarms, identify and resolve plant defects and perform routine maintenance on plant and equipment. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and carrying out isolation and restoration programs for the safe access to the plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

In this Trainee role you will be required to gain competency in, and then carry out, a range of Plant Access, Operation and Maintenance tasks, including the following:

  • Isolate & restore Plant and Equipment as required

  • Review Isolation/Restoration plans for the adequate addressing of identified risks and assist others with the development of these plans as necessary. 

  • Operate generators, pumps, hydraulic assets and auxiliary equipment and systems within competencies and authorisation.

  • Respond to and resolve plant alarms, indications and defects to ensure the availability and reliability of plant is maintained. 

  • Complete return to service tests at system and sub-system level in accordance with procedures and competencies. 

  • Complete a variety of maintenance activities as per the provided work packages. Ensure job procedure data and work order history is recorded and updated within the maintenance management system.

  • Accountable for electrical installation and repair work, including verification and sign-off of electrical work according to regulatory standards and internal requirements

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in plant reliability with an electrical or mechanical trade within the heavy industry sector

  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance program requirements, analysis techniques and maintenance management practices

  • Strong ability to communicate with a range of personnel and customers

  • Knowledge of WH&S, EEO and environmental policies and standards

  • Sound computer skills involving spreadsheets and statistical analysis

  • Availability to participate in an on call roster 

  • HV switching authorisation
