full-time, permanent position exists for an Outage Manager - Planning to join our Hydro Overhaul Execution team.

About the position:

As the Outage Manager - Planning, you will hold a critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end scoping, detailed planning, and scheduling phases required for the successful delivery of Snowy Hydro’s major overhaul works.

Operating with a calm, structured, and precise approach, you will hold joint responsibility with execution Outage Managers for delivering world-class WHSE, Quality, Time, and Cost outcomes. Rather than driving on-site execution, you will serve as the strategic anchor for the team—owning the development, governance, and assurance of a disciplined Major Overhaul Framework that guarantees absolute compliance with Snowy Hydro Quality and WHSE standards.

This is a future-focused role where you will look ahead at the long-range horizon of the business. You will evaluate end-to-end planning processes, map out complex labor and resource fluctuations, and act as the vital bridge connecting our high-level Strategy Team with our regional operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a long-term Integrated Major Overhaul Schedule, Resource Plan, and repeatable Maintenance Plan work packages for Regional Operations. Optimise detailed scopes to enable smooth execution by internal and contracted workgroups, supporting asset capability, availability, and reliability.
  • Provide disciplined governance and assurance oversight of key business processes—specifically Work Management, the Major Overhaul Framework, and the Project Management Framework—ensuring strict compliance across Regional Operations.
  • Complete a comprehensive evaluation of the current overhaul planning processes to fine-tune operations and align with organisational changes, reporting key findings and corrective actions directly back to the Overhauls Manager.
  • Lead the planning team in developing detailed business cases for overhaul scopes, managing planning budgets/cost controls, administering procurement contracts, and engineering high-quality workpacks (including work instructions, permits, risk assessments, and quality documentation).
  • Act as the strategic go-between connecting major overhauls with the corporate strategy team. Identify future team compositions and manage resource fluctuations to safely navigate upcoming outage peak periods.
  • Manage, guide, and develop the local planning, scheduling, and logistics team. Prioritise workloads to match the strategic direction of Regional Operations, conduct performance reviews, and lead employees toward full operational competence.
  • Lead onsite and offsite Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality control personnel (both internal and contingent) to ensure all overhaul works strictly mirror established regulatory and company standards.

About the location:

Nestled at the southwestern edge of the breathtaking Snowy Mountains, this role offers an enviable lifestyle for those looking to swap the city grind for wide-open spaces, a close-knit community vibe, and a true adventure-filled backyard. Based out of our Khancoban office, you will be living and working in a historic township surrounded by spectacular alpine landscapes, where world-class fishing, boating on Khancoban Pondage, and hiking are part of daily life. While Khancoban and nearby Corryong provide your everyday essential amenities and a warm country welcome, the major regional hub of Albury-Wodonga is just a scenic two-hour drive away—perfect for a weekend shopping trip, dining out, or catching a flight.

To make the transition seamless, relocation support, including assistance with moving your personal household belongings and temporary transit housing options while you find a permanent home, is available for the right candidate. If you are looking for a rewarding residential leadership career where you can genuinely connect with the community you live in, Khancoban is waiting.

About you:

We are looking for a structured, dependable leader who brings a calm under-pressure demeanor, high analytical precision, and a passion for establishing ironclad procedural governance. You will be someone who can seamlessly bridge the gap between our complex processes and our people.

Working alongside two high-energy, execution-focused peer Outage Managers, you will thrive by being the detailed "eye on the planning end" to support their field delivery. You will also bring a natural appetite for mentorship, taking pride in guiding and developing existing planners and integrating a newly appointed logistics officer into the business.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role with heavy maintenance or operations planning responsibilities. Your experience should come from a highly structured, capital-intensive, high-risk industrial sector.
  • A robust technical background in long-range maintenance scheduling. You will bring advanced proficiency with CMMS software (ideally Ellipse) and project scheduling tools (ideally both MS Project and Primavera P6).
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain disciplined governance frameworks. You possess strong technical writing skills, sharp attention to detail, and an aptitude for evaluating complex organisational processes.
  • Demonstrated success in developing, mentoring, and managing the performance of junior technical staff. You have exceptional interpersonal skills with the capability to hold peers and teams accountably, communicate across all tiers of an organisation, and build strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • The ability to prioritise team workloads, manage large-scale labor fluctuations, and remain highly effective when navigating ambiguity and complexity in a fast-paced environment.
