About the position:

The Coordinated Battery System (CBS) product, Snowy's first distributed energy resource venture, utilises customer-sited batteries from a range of large clients to create a ‘virtual power plant’ fleet of market facing C&I size BESS, solar, and load systems.

Snowy Hydro capabilities include the  integration of third-party DER control systems and bespoke upgrades to Snowy's billing system. 


This position is a newly created technical project management role which will  serve as the link between Snowy, our control and optimisation partners, and our Customers. The VPP Operations Lead will be a key point of contact for customers on CBS product matters, managing technical onboarding and commissioning of battery sites, trading BESS and fleet operational performance, managing billing processes and providing general support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You’ll be responsible for Project Management across multiple key stakeholders to ensure a smooth onboarding experience, and outstanding ongoing support.

  • You will liaise with Account Managers, third party service providers, and customers frequently to deliver your role outcomes .

  • You’ll support clear technical guidance and communications between  the third party orchestration Platform, customers, BESS OEM’s and installers.

  • You’ll be responsible for regular performance reporting, and will act as the first point of contact for troubleshooting & triaging of a range of operational CBS issues, including  market optimisation, metering and billing enquiries.

  • You’ll provide regular updates to key  internal stakeholders,  including the Wholesale Trading, Commercial and Billing Operations teams.

  • You will review site design approaches, and act as the interface between customer, internal teams, and third party providers to ensure trouble-free project delivery.

  • You’ll work alongside and assist the Business Development Team, providing clear technical support and explanations to customers' questions.

  • You will identify opportunities to broaden the market scope and improve capability, efficiency and operation of the CBS product, including participation in new value streams where it is commercially advantageous to Snowy Hydro.

About the location:

This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne

About you:

  • You bring a strong understanding of distributed energy systems - particularly C&I scale BESS and solar. 

  • You’ll have significant technical expertise in order to communicate clearly and knowledgeably, with key stakeholders (external and internal).

  • Ideally, you’ll come from a CER/DER Project Management background with strong technical proficiency.

  • You are highly organised - you have experience working with multiple, varied stakeholders on a range of issues and have had the responsibility for providing clear, concise advice both technical and non-technical, so there are lots of moving parts to maintain.

  • You’ll be comfortable working autonomously, with the ability to adapt your focus and effort during peak busy and less busy periods

  • You are keen to learn. While all the above is preferred, we understand that this position requires a broad skillset, so key elements like technical ability, project management, and communication are the 3 primary capabilities we are seeking.
