Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the iconic Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generating plants, and contracted wind and solar energy in the National Electricity Market. We also provide electricity and gas to over 1.5 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy. Snowy 2.0, currently under construction, is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
About the position:
We have an exciting opportunity available to join our Social Impact and Community team as a Senior Social Impact and Community Consultant.
In this newly created position, you will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with local communities, supporting social impact and community engagement initiatives, and promoting Snowy Hydro's commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Please note this role will require regular domestic travel within the Snowy Mountains.
Key Responsibilities:

You will build and maintain relationships with a network of community stakeholders, including council operational staff, community organisations and residents.

You’ll regularly represent Snowy Hydro at community events, meetings and information sessions.

You will provide community engagement support to Snowy Hydro business units by delivering engagement programs to support projects (including the Snowy 2.0 project) and specific business activities.

You will deliver on our community giving programs and partnerships activations to maximise outcomes and shared value.

You’ll coordinate project logistics, communications and stakeholder engagement for social impact projects.

You will assist in coordinating activities and events that promote meaningful engagement with First Nations communities, building strong and collaborative relationships.
About you:

You hold a tertiary qualification in communications, social sciences, community development, sustainability or another relevant field, or equivalent professional experience

You have significant experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, and project coordination including a proven track record of working effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders

You bring a strong understanding of community development principles and best practices including inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration

You also have a strong understanding of the social impact and community energy industry landscape and regulatory requirements around community engagement in the sector, including relating to project approvals

You bring the ability to build trust and foster relationships within the company and with internal and external stakeholders

You are an excellent communicator, and have great interpersonal, and organisational skills

You bring an ability to use initiative, prioritise tasks, and manage workload effectively with minimal supervision

Strong teamwork skills are essential, including collaboration, communication, and the ability to contribute positively to a team environment

An IAP2 Certificate of Engagement is highly desirable
