About the position:

Are you an experienced environmental professional passionate about biodiversity and looking to make a lasting impact on a nation-building project? 

 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for biodiversity management, ensuring our project environmental plans are implemented effectively, reported on accurately, and compliant with all regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Biodiversity Management: Oversee the implementation of the Biodiversity Management Plan (BMP) and associated sub-plans, including monitoring programs for threatened species, weeds, and flora. 

  • Reporting & Compliance: Lead the preparation of timely, efficient annual reporting that addresses approval requirements and incorporates feedback from regulators and stakeholders. 

  • Collaborate and Influence: You’ll be a vital point of contact for external regulators and stakeholders

  • Mentor and Lead: You will provide technical leadership, supporting our team and working closely with the contractor to ensure everything is done to the highest standard.

  • Specialist Support: Support the oversight and delivery of other management plans including but not limited to the heritage management plan and coordinate subcontractors. You will also provide specialist ecological, biosecurity and impact assessment support to the Project.

About the location:

This role will require you to work from our Head Office in Cooma, NSW on a standard Monday to Friday work week.

About you:

  • Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science (or equivalent). A BAM Certification is highly desirable. 

  • Experience: Previous experience with a Tier One Contractor or client and experience working with regulatory authorities, preferably in an Alpine region. 

  • Project Management: Proven experience in project management and contractor management, preferably from within NSW

  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret complex management plans and work with National Parks and regulators.
