About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity available to join our Social Impact and Community team as a Senior Community Consultant.
In this newly created position, you will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with local communities, supporting social impact and community engagement initiatives, and promoting Snowy Hydro's commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Please note this role will require regular domestic travel within the Snowy Mountains.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of community engagement and social impact initiatives, including delivering engagement programs to support projects and specific business activities
- Develop and implement community engagement plans inline with the community engagement strategy
- Build and maintain relationships with a network of community stakeholders, including local government, community organisations, and residents
- Coordinate community events and meetings, including logistics, communications, and stakeholder management
- Represent Snowy Hydro at community events and meetings, as required
- Manage community inquiries and feedback, ensuring timely and effective responses
- Maximise outcomes and benefits for successful recipients of our community giving programs
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of social impact initiatives and community engagement activities, including preparing reports and presentations
- Maintain accurate records of community engagement activities, including stakeholder interactions, event attendance, and project updates
We are looking for someone with:
- A tertiary qualification in communications, social sciences, community development, sustainability or another relevant field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, and project coordination including proven track record of working effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Strong understanding of community development principles and best practices including inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and collaboration
- Strong understanding of the social impact and community energy industry landscape and regulatory requirements around community engagement in the sector, including relating to project approvals
- The ability to build trust and foster relationships within the company and with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Ability to use initiative, prioritise tasks, and manage workload effectively with minimal supervision
- Strong teamwork skills, including collaboration, communication, and the ability to contribute positively to a team environment
- IAP2 Certificate of Engagement is highly desirable
