About the position:
Are you a seasoned Project Manager passionate about delivering critical infrastructure projects? We are seeking two full-time Project Managers to join our Capital Projects team, reporting directly to the Program Manager. These individuals will play a vital role in ensuring the long-term safety, reliability, and availability of our operations.
You'll be responsible for the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of diverse sustaining capital projects, where the application of sound project management principles is paramount. This includes defining scope, managing budgets and schedules, coordinating resources, and overseeing all project phases from initiation to closure. We're seeking someone who deeply understands and prioritises HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) and Risk Management in every stage of project planning and execution.
This position is a standard Monday to Friday roster.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Project Manager within the Capital Projects team, you'll be accountable for:
- HSE Focus: Champion risk, safety, and environmental excellence throughout the project lifecycle, striving for zero harm on site.
- Project Management: Lead projects from inception to completion, including scope definition, budget and schedule management, contractor selection, and performance monitoring against KPIs (HSE, budget, schedule, quality).
- Contractor Engagement: Oversee contractor selection, contract management, execution, and resource utilisation, including commissioning and handover.
- Team Membership: Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, continuously seeking to improve your skills and capabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with various stakeholders, including regional managers, to ensure successful project outcomes.
About the location:
This permanent full time role is based out of our Cooma office, offering the opportunity to work in the heart of the Snowy Mountains region. You'll be part of a dedicated local team delivering key engineering advice to support projects across all of Snowy Hydro’s existing assets. The role will also involve travel to project sites across New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia as regularly as once a fortnight, providing diverse project exposure and the chance to work in a variety of environments.
Relocation support is available to those wanting to move to Cooma, NSW.
About you:
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to execute tasks from inception to completion.
- Ability to work with autonomy and responsibility, and to work effectively both at site and remotely from site.
- Highly developed interpersonal communication and negotiating skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels, including senior level officers, and with internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge of Quality, OH&S, EEO and Environmental policies, procedures and standards.
- Able to quickly and effectively adapt to changing circumstances and demands in a measured and constructive way.
- Electrical Engineering or Electrical Trade background (is desirable).
- Ideal applicants should have experience with transformer upgrades, switchboard enhancements, control and protection systems, and earthing improvements.
