As the client-side Owner’s Team, we lead the project’s successful delivery, working closely with delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure Snowy Hydro’s vision of a sustainable, reliable energy future becomes reality. 

 

The Role

Based in Cooma, reporting directly to the Electrical Engineering Lead, you'll be an integral part of the Snowy 2.0 Project, playing a key role in the Design Governance process, collaborating with contractors and subcontractors to support and develop project designs. Furthermore, you will provide essential design assurance to the SHL construction and quality teams, offering expert supervision and technical support. 

This position offers a 2-year fixed-term contract in Cooma, working a 5/2 roster. We offer relocation assistance to help make the move as smooth as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Compliance: implementing and upholding the Employer's Requirements and the SHL Design Management Plan. This includes conducting thorough design reviews of contractor submissions to ensure they comply with all relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaboration and Integration: collaborating with contractors and other disciplines through the design and governance process to ensure the project designs are well-integrated and function efficiently.

  • Testing & Commissioning: playing a pivitol role in the project's testing and commissioning phases. This includes participating in both Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests, as well as developing and resolving sng lists with the contractor.
  • Technical Support & Quality Assurance: assisting in addressing manufacturing and site installation issues as they arise, working closely with the quality department and the Electrical Engineering Lead. Participation in audits and reviews, including quality, risk and design to ensure project outcomes are optimised. 

What You'll Bring

A tertiary qualification in electrical engineering and experience in a related industry, such as civil construction or utilities. Your expertise in power generation, transmission, and distribution, combined with knowledge of procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, will be essential. We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can effectively manage change, identify and solve problems, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. You must also be a collaborative team player with a strong sense of initiative, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a clear alignment with Snowy Hydro's corporate values.
