About the position:
As a Project Cost Controller, you will provide critical support to project delivery teams to ensure that costs are effectively monitored, updated, and aligned with the progress of multiple active projects. You will play a central role in enabling informed decision-making by conducting regular analysis of financial performance, project risks, quality, scheduling, and overall status.
This full-time position is key to maintaining financial discipline, forecasting accuracy, and timely project reporting to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project estimators to ensure Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) align accurately with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), supporting precise forecasting.

Liaise with the Procurement Team and Project Managers to understand procurement statuses and financial commitments impacting forecasts.

Work closely with project schedulers to integrate progress updates into cost forecasts.

Regularly provide support and guidance to Project Managers to update individual project cost forecasts (minimum monthly) to reflect current project realities.

Strategically analyse financial, scheduling, and progress data to identify trends, risks, and potential project issues.

Communicate analysis outcomes to Project Managers regularly to aid in proactive decision-making and validate report accuracy.

Organise and facilitate regular meetings with Project Managers and stakeholders to review project progress, risks, controls, schedules, and costs.

Develop and manage tailored reporting frameworks and consolidate reports for distribution and review.

Support Project Implementation Reviews (PIRs) and Business Benefits Reviews (BBRs) as required.
We’re ideally looking for someone with:
- Degree in Engineering, Finance, or relevant industry experience; 5 years’ preferred with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Skilled in data analysis, anomaly detection, and reporting with actionable insights.
- Able to influence stakeholders to secure timely, accurate project information.
- Effective at managing multiple tasks and prioritising workloads.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, working well with all organisational levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong data analysis and reporting capabilities.
- Knowledge of Power BI is an advantage.
About the location:
While Cooma is the preferred location for this role, we will also consider candidates based from our Melbourne or Sydney offices. Relocation assistance is available for those interested in relocating to Cooma.
