About Snowy:

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1.5 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

Snowy 2.0 is Australia’s largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

About the position:

Are you an experienced Network Operations Centre (NOC) Specialist with the strategic insight to lead and oversee critical communications, network, and server infrastructure? We’re looking for a full-time professional to join our team.

In this role, you'll play a key part in maintaining the real-time availability and performance of systems that support our generation operations, operational technology (OT), information technology (IT), and corporate services. Your expertise will be essential to ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our mission-critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Oversight: Provide strategic leadership for NOC operations, including monitoring, management, and optimisation of critical communications, network, server, voice, and wireless systems. Lead the development and maintenance of NOC processes and documentation, and mentor technology operations teams.
  • Incident & Operations Management: Coordinate and prioritise responses to system alerts, incidents, and outages, working with vendors to ensure timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Systems Monitoring & Optimisation: Manage the implementation and maintenance of NOC monitoring tools, analyse system performance trends, and identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Collaboration & Change Management: Collaborate with IT, OT, and corporate teams on system upgrades, patches, and changes, adhering to change management processes.
  • Reporting & Resilience: Prepare regular reports on system performance and incidents, and support business continuity and disaster recovery efforts.

About the location:

The preferred location for this role is Cooma; however, we will also consider candidates based at either Melbourne or Sydney office locations. Flexible hybrid working arrangements are available. Our teams typically work 2–3 days in the office each week, with the remaining days from home. You’ll enjoy the best of both worlds—in-person collaboration and remote flexibility—supported by a team that values both connection and autonomy.

About you:

  • Extensive technical expertise across enterprise or critical infrastructure systems—networks, servers, communications, voice, and wireless.
  • Strong experience with monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, SevOne, Zabbix, Statseeker) and a solid understanding of virtualisation platforms and storage systems.
  • Proven leadership in NOC or operations environments, with the ability to coordinate teams, manage priorities, and maintain service continuity under pressure.
  • Skilled in incident and problem management, with working knowledge of ITIL frameworks and a proactive, analytical approach to root cause resolution.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, able to engage effectively with technical teams, senior management, and external vendors.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in network operations, IT/OT, or communications systems, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory NOC role; relevant qualifications and certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCNA, ITIL, Network+) are highly regarded.
