About the position:

We are seeking a driven Mechanical Engineer to join the iconic Snowy 2.0 project. Based in Cooma, you will play a critical role in the mechanical engineering aspects of the project, from design and manufacturing through to site installation and commissioning.

Reporting directly to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will ensure our technical quality standards are met without compromising project schedules, while acting as a key interface between contractors, consultants, and multi-disciplinary teams

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Engineering: Conducting comprehensive design reviews of contractor submissions to ensure compliance with Employer Requirements and relevant codes.

  • Manufacturing Quality: Evaluating Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and undertaking short assignments (around 0.5 months) for Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and manufacturing surveillance.

  • Site Installation & Commissioning: Providing assurance that the plant is built to design, undertaking periodic site inspections (3-4 days), and facilitating the handover from the Contractor to Snowy Hydro.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Interfacing seamlessly with other disciplines to ensure integrated designs and constructively resolving conflicts to maintain effective working relationships.

  • Safety Leadership: Maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, leading by example, and actively championing Snowy Hydro's core values.

About the location:

This role is located at our Head Office in Cooma NSW, working Monday to Friday. With FIFO or Relocation for the right candidate.

About you:

  • Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline.

  • Experience: 5+ years experience in a similar role in civil construction, utilities or a related industry.

  • Industry Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of power generation, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to convey information and ideas clearly to individuals and groups.

  • Problem Solving: The ability to identify issues, problems and opportunities, make timely decisions, and assist in solution findings.

  • Bonus Skills: An interest in BIM and asset registers could be advantageous
