A full-time position exists for a Manager Small Projects & Specialist Technical Practice to join the Operation and Maintenance Team in Cooma (other office locations may be considered depending on the successful candidate).

About the position:

As the Manager Small Projects & Specialist Technical Practice you will serve as the strategic custodian for the fleet-wide Small Projects (CAPEX) portfolio and high-consequence Specialist Technical Practices. You will hold ultimate accountability for portfolio governance, capacity scaling, and ensuring the standardised application of the Deliver Projects Framework across the fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and govern the small projects (CAPEX) portfolio to ensure all initiatives strictly conform to the Deliver Projects Framework and meet safety, budgetary, and quality milestones.
  • Critically monitors, evaluates, and reports on portfolio performance to
  • ensure complex renewals consistently achieve safety, budgetary, and quality milestones.
  • Act as the principal interface between Capital Services and Regional Maintenance to ensure project outages are seamlessly integrated into the Master Schedule.
  • Develop long-term roadmaps to mature internal technical mastery and build "Make vs. Buy" business cases to optimise operational expenditure and reduce contractor reliance.

About the location:

While Cooma, NSW, is the primary location for this position, we are open to applicants from other office locations across the Snowy regions. This role involves travel to various Snowy sites and follows a Monday-to-Friday roster with flexible working options. You will be expected to spend at least three days each week on-site or in the office, with the possibility of working remotely for up to two days; specific arrangements will be finalised with the chosen candidate.

About you:

  • You possess tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business, or a related field, along with a strong background in industry leadership.
  • You have proven experience governing capital renewal portfolios and executing structured project governance frameworks.
  • You possess an advanced understanding of financial governance, including contract performance evaluation, capital allocation, and complex financial modeling.
  • You have a documented success in building technical capabilities, mentoring specialists, and managing geographically dispersed teams.
  • You demonstrate high-level negotiation and relationship management skills to integrate competing priorities between project delivery and regional operations.
