About the location:

To stay closely connected to our operational reality, this full-time position as Safety Assurance & Performance Manager will ideally be based in Cooma or the surrounding Snowy Mountains Region (Sydney office location may be considered depending on the successful candidate and their willingness for regular site-based travel).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute the internal Health, Safety & Process Safety assurance frameworks across frontline (Level 1) and systemic (Level 2) programs.

  • Coach and empower operational leaders to take ownership of frontline assurance to drive genuine safety outcomes.

  • Govern the external ISO 45001 certification process and lead the organisation in preparation for external WHS audits.

  • Develop and deliver high-impact, data-driven performance reporting to the Executive and Board, providing actionable insights into the health and maturity of the safety system as well as implementation of the Health, Safety & Process Strategy.

  • Manage compliance obligation registers and tenaciously track the completion of assurance and audit corrective actions to ensure continuous organisational improvement.

About you:

  • Qualifications in Health & Safety, Auditing, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.

  • Expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining functional health and safety assurance frameworks.

  • Certified OHS Professional (e.g., SIA/AIHS) or a certified Lead Auditor (ISO 45001), equivalent professional body membership, or eligible for the same.

  • Proficiency in Data Analytics is highly desirable, i.e. Power BI or similar tools.

  • Proven ability to translate corporate business strategy into lead/lag performance metrics, KPIs, and executive-level governance reporting.

  • Well-developed communication and coaching skills, with a proven ability to influence senior leaders and empower operational managers to take ownership of safety assurance.
