As the client-side Owner’s Team, we lead the project’s successful delivery, working closely with delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure Snowy Hydro’s vision of a sustainable, reliable energy future becomes reality. 

The Role

Step into a career-defining role as our Health and Safety Initiatives Advisor, where you’ll lead the development and delivery of change initiatives aligned with the HSE strategy. Reporting to the HSE Systems Manager, this role requires expertise in applying Safety Differently principles, strong communication skills, and the ability to build evidence-based key performance indicators.

 

This position is based in Cooma, and candidates are encouraged to relocate, with Snowy Hydro offering a comprehensive relocation package. Alternatively, a FIFO 5:2 roster to Cooma is available for the right candidate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Deliver Safety Programs: Develop and implement targeted health and safety initiatives that align with project needs, industry best practices, and compliance standards.

  • Drive Critical Risk Management: Continuously review and enhance the MAP Program to improve critical risk identification and control measures.

  • Lead Safety Training: Create and deliver engaging health and safety training for workers, contractors, and subcontractors across the project.

  • Monitor & Analyse Safety Performance: Track safety trends, provide data-driven insights, and recommend proactive initiatives to boost safety culture.

  • Oversee Incident Reviews: Analyse incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement initiatives to prevent recurrence.

 

  • Champion Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with teams to drive innovation and implement best practices that enhance safety outcomes and reduce risk.

  • Engage & Influence Stakeholders: Build strong relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and regulators as the go-to advisor for health and safety initiative

What You'll Bring

You’re a proactive and goal-oriented safety professional with a strong background in Risk Management and the implementation of Fatality Prevention, Major Hazard, and Critical Control programs. You have experience facilitating Learning Teams and are skilled in auditing Safety Management Systems (SMS qualification desirable).

 

Your highly developed influencing and negotiation skills allow you to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You thrive in dynamic environments, managing change with ease while supporting others through transitions. You possess sharp problem-solving abilities, making timely and sound decisions, and developing innovative solutions when faced with challenges.

 

With excellent verbal and written communication skills, you can confidently convey ideas and safety insights to individuals and teams, fostering a strong safety culture across the project
