The Role
As a key member of the Snowy Hydro Owners Team, the Commercial Manager holds a critical leadership role overseeing all commercial and contractual aspects of the Snowy 2.0 Project. This includes managing contractual relationships, ensuring compliance with the project agreement, and strategically handling claims, variations, and negotiations.
The role is based in Cooma, with a generous relocation package available for those willing to move. Alternatively, a FIFO (5:2) roster to Cooma may be offered to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead negotiations with contractors on claims and variations, securing outcomes that protect the employer’s interests.

Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners to support smooth project delivery.

Act as the main point of contact for subcontract variations, ensuring clear and consistent communication between all parties.

Drive resolution of claims and variations in line with project goals and the employer’s strategic priorities.

Ensure all claims and variations meet legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements, reducing risk to the project.

Assess risks linked to claims and variations, and implement strategies to minimise potential impacts.

Track and report on the progress and impact of claims and variations, offering strategic insights to senior leadership.
What You'll Bring
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Law, or a related field, along with senior-level experience in contracts administration or management. Your background will include a proven track record of successfully managing claims and variations on large-scale construction or engineering projects. You’ll have strong leadership capabilities, with experience leading a team of contracts professionals, and a deep understanding of EPC contracts and legal compliance. Your exceptional negotiation, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills will set you apart, complemented by advanced proficiency in contract management systems and processes.
